The pedigree of the "A-six" began with the Audi 100 model. According to the end-to-end numbering, the series has experienced a change of eight generations. A solid deadline for any automotive idea. Audi would not have been able to withstand such a long release period if not for constant improvements. Over the years, the car has constantly become bigger, more powerful, and more comfortable.

What is the class of the car
The Audi A6 belongs to the business class cars. In the European Classification, such machines are usually assigned the index E. In the American system, the position most corresponds to the class of "large family cars. Like most classmates, the basic A6 is a sedan, although station wagons are also available, which are called Avant in Audi.


Business class is a roomy car with significant dimensions and a solid appearance. They are actively used as a family car, where they can easily accommodate 5 adult passengers, but still their main purpose is to be used for moving by wealthy people. Such vehicles are valued not only for their driving performance, convenience, ergonomics, practicality, but also for a certain status, which the owner must comply with according to the unspoken rule "meet by clothes and car".

Bodies by year
The car was first named A6 in 1994. The release of each new generation was accompanied by changes in appearance: bodywork, optics, as well as internal components: interior, engine, transmission, electronic filling.

1994 – 98: C4. The general contours of the body have not changed compared to the previous Audi 100 model, a thorough facelift was carried out: the bumpers were now painted to match the body, the moldings disappeared, the optics changed. The line of the hood and fenders has also become slightly different.


1995 – 2004: C5. A very successful generation that enjoys strong demand in the secondary market. The body with the factory designation 4B has become much more streamlined. The drag coefficient is only 0.28. Sedan and wagon (Avant) were produced. The hood is made of aluminum alloy.

2004 – 11: C6. The body has been significantly upgraded in accordance with the requirements of fashion. The radiator grille became significantly higher and was extended to the lower bumper. The headlights have become narrower and more predatory. The rear optics turned from square to horizontal, going into the trunk lid.

2011 – 17: C7. The body becomes even more sporty. The front grille is made using horizontal chrome bars, predatory air intakes with embossed folds appeared in the lower part of the front. The headlights became more complex in configuration, equipped with LEDs in the basic configuration.

2018 – our days: C8. Externally, the body has changed very slightly. A slight redesign affected the design of the radiator grille, lower air intakes interlocked with fog lights, as well as the horizontal stamped line.

The emphasis was mainly on interior design and electronics.

Fresh Audi cars are supplied to the Russian market in the following variations:

A6 sedan. The standard version is with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, equipped with 45 TFSI and 55 TFSI gasoline engines with a capacity of 245 and 340 liters/s, respectively.
A6 Avant. In the wagon body, a two–liter 40 TFSI gasoline engine with a capacity of 190 hp is available. It is economical and traction, although unhurried, as well as 40 TDI and 45 TDI diesel engines for 190 and 245 liters/s.
A6 Allroad Quattro. The body, like the Avant, also has many useful options: an adjustable air suspension, a driving assistant in difficult conditions, special tires and wheels, a proprietary all-wheel drive system.
A6 Premium and Premium S. Design changes have been made to the sedan, increasing the prestige of the limited series.
Model range for Europe
Taking as an example the German car market, where most Audi cars are produced for the European market, you can see the following models on sale:

A6 Limousine. Sedan with TDI and TFSI engines from 163 to 340 hp.
A6 Limousine and Avant TFSI E. In combination with an internal combustion engine (50 and 55 TFSI), the sedan and station wagon are equipped with electric motors that allow you to increase fuel consumption to 2 liters per 100 km.
A6 Avant. The station wagon body offers a wide range of gasoline and diesel engines similar to the sedan configuration. Diesel in Europe is on an equal footing with gasoline, and sometimes surpasses it in terms of sales.
A6 Allroad Quattro. A version designed for universal use on public roads and the possibility of exit from the highway. For ease of operation – adjustable suspension, all-wheel drive, body structure with unpainted bumpers and bottom protection.
Model range for the US market
The US market has the same models as in Europe, with the exception of the Avant station wagon. It is presented only in the Allroad modification, which is classified in the USA as SUV and Wagons.

In the equipment, it is worth noting the wide distribution of the Premium Plus package and the complete absence of a manual transmission.
